Walk Across Williamson sign-ups to occur at same time,
Aegis Health Group, Mercy Community Healthcare
to offer free screenings at Pinkerton Park event

Franklin Tomorrow’s Get Fit Franklin project is joining forces with Walk Across Williamson to hold its quarterly event on Saturday, March 1, at Pinkerton Park, from 9-10:30 a.m.

Get Fit Franklin, presented with founding partner BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, is a distance walking project designed to encourage residents to take the first steps to a healthier, more active community by stepping out their front door.

Vanderbilt Health is the sponsor of quarterly Get Fit Franklin events.

During the March 1 event at Pinkerton Park, attendees can also register for Walk Across Williamson, a collaborative effort between the Williamson County Health Council, Williamson County Schools and Franklin Special School District.

Along with community members, teachers, parents and children in schools throughout Williamson County will log the number of minutes they are active every day during the month of March. Schools that record the most participants and minutes of activity are eligible for grants provided by Coordinated School Health Programs in each district.

An added benefit for participants and new registrants in Get Fit Franklin is Aegis Health Group, in conjunction with Mercy Community Healthcare, on March 1 will be offering free, confidential health surveys coupled with biometric health screenings to event attendees that will only take about 10 minutes to complete.

Through OneCommunity, an online health portal offered by Aegis Health Group, participants can then view their personal health report. OneCommunity offers a password-protected view to their personal health profile including health risks and customized content outlining areas for improvement with recommended activities to achieve better health.

Participants will have access to their personalized Website on OneCommunity that also enables them to track and monitor their health habits, like diet and exercise activities, for one year.
